AGP completes Terminal 4 export facility at Port of Grays Harbor
The new Terminal 4 adds ship-loading, storage, and unloading capacity designed to speed vessel loading and support growing US exports, especially to Asia-Pacific markets.
Ag Processing Inc. has completed its new Terminal 4 export facility at the Port of Grays Harbor in Aberdeen, Washington, a project designed to increase the port’s agricultural export throughput. World Grain reports the addition is expected to more than double annual agricultural commodity exports through the port, with a July 31 grand opening attended by industry partners, customers, community members, and elected officials.
The work at Terminal 4 includes a ship loader, expanded unloading and storage capabilities, and supporting port infrastructure intended to improve efficiency and strengthen export opportunities for US agriculture. World Grain says the upgrades are meant to increase vessel loading speeds and give AGP flexibility and redundancy to serve growing international demand.
AGP said the facility supports exports of US agricultural products with a focus on Southeast Asia and other Asia-Pacific markets. The company also linked the expansion to ongoing growth in US soybean processing in the Midwest, saying increased production of soybean meal and soybean oil is creating additional domestic and international market opportunities, according to World Grain.
AGP framed the project as a long-term investment in its cooperative and member-owners, positioning it to connect Midwest agriculture with global demand. World Grain reports the company has used the port since loading its first vessel at Terminal 2 in 2003 and described Grays Harbor as a key part of its export network.
