Benign weather lifts Crawford’s international margins, but US P&C slips

Crawford said US property and casualty revenue fell 10.2% to $74.1 million in Q2 as lower weather-related claims reduced demand for catastrophe services staffing.

Crawford & Company’s international operations rebounded in the second quarter of 2026, with operating earnings rising and margins expanding even as the US claims environment stayed softer, Insurance Business reports. For the quarter ended June 30, revenues before reimbursements were $321.4 million, roughly flat with $323.0 million a year earlier, while net income attributable to shareholders climbed 73% to $13.4 million from $7.8 million.

The company’s international segment was the main driver, posting operating earnings of $10.9 million, up 48.2% from $7.3 million a year earlier. Operating margin widened from 5.5% to 7.9%, supported by higher weather-related activity in Australia and Asia and stronger results in Canada, while UK operations, about 13.4% of total revenue, continued to be a key geography.

Crawford’s UK business also saw a change during the quarter, after it completed the sale of its Crawford Legal Services operations in the UK and Chile. The company recorded a net loss on disposal of $1.3 million, and brokers that previously used litigation support from the unit will need to source those services elsewhere.

In contrast, Crawford’s US Property & Casualty segment reported a revenue decline, falling 10.2% to $74.1 million from $82.5 million in Q2 2025. Crawford attributed the drop to lower weather-related claims, reduced catastrophe services staffing, and fewer contractor connection referrals, with US softness also described as tied to an extended period of benign weather earlier in the year, according to the article.
