Bitcoin stays in a tight range below $64,000 as risk assets rise

CoinDesk cites data showing bitcoin trading below $64,000 while WTI crude fell about 3% to $78 a barrel and Nasdaq 100 futures rose 1.1%.

Bitcoin remained confined to a tight trading range below $64,000 as broader risk assets gained, according to CoinDesk’s live market updates. The update pointed to optimism around potential deal talks tied to Iran as stocks and futures moved higher while crypto lifted off overnight lows.

CoinDesk also tied the day’s cross-asset moves to macro expectations after Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent said a deal could be in place tomorrow to open the Strait of Hormuz on CNBC. In the same snapshot, WTI crude was down about 3% to $78 per barrel as bitcoin held the $64,000 level.

The update highlighted that bitcoin’s behavior is being treated like a macro asset, with CoinDesk quoting Eric Swartz, founding general partner at Panther Hollow Ventures. He linked a stronger yen to higher odds of additional carry-trade unwinds that could pressure risk assets, including bitcoin, referencing Friday’s rare US and Japan currency intervention.

CoinDesk further noted that crypto derivatives activity stayed busy, with ADA futures open interest reaching a record high at 2.79 billion tokens, based on Coinglass data. In that same segment, CoinDesk said Cardano’s ADA spot price rose to 19 cents early Tuesday, the highest since July 4.
