Jim Cramer says he plans to sell his Bitcoin over quantum fears
Cramer linked his decision to concerns raised by IBM CEO Arvind Krishna, while Bitcoin is up about 1.7% on the day but remains down 27% year to date.
CNBC personality Jim Cramer said he plans to sell all of his Bitcoin holdings, citing fears that quantum computing could pose a threat to cryptocurrencies. Cointelegraph reports that Cramer made the remarks during a Friday episode of “Mad Money,” referencing comments made the prior day by IBM chairman and CEO Arvind Krishna.
According to Cointelegraph, Krishna told Cramer to “get paranoid” about quantum computing’s potential impact on crypto in the next three to four years. Cointelegraph also notes that Bitcoin was up around 1.7% on Tuesday to trade above $63,500, but remained down 27% year to date, based on TradingView data.
Cointelegraph adds that some crypto investors responded to Cramer’s remarks through the “inverse Cramer” meme, which frames the strategy of taking positions opposite to Cramer’s calls. The outlet also cites blockchain and market data suggesting larger investors have been reducing exposure as liquidity conditions soften.
Cointelegraph reports that Lookonchain tracked a whale wallet transfer of 16,400 Bitcoin, worth about $1 billion, to a new address after seven months of inactivity. It also points to data from Kaiko, shared by The Kobeissi Letter, showing daily cryptocurrency trading activity across the leading 44 spot exchanges fell to $15 billion last week, the lowest level of 2026.
