New York imports 52 GWh from Canada after CHPE line starts full service
The July 3 import was the largest volume traded between the two areas since January 2025, according to NYISO.
The US Energy Information Administration reports that on July 3, 2026, New York imported 52 gigawatthours of electricity from Canada, the most traded between the two areas since January 2025.
The flow included electricity routed over the new Champlain Hudson Power Express transmission line between Quebec and New York City, which reached commercial operations in May.
The EIA notes that the imports illustrate how the CHPE link is beginning to affect cross border electricity trade for New York.
