Sapiens appoints CFO Paul Wheeler as CEO
The leadership change follows recent milestones including an ADIA-linked minority investment and the launch of an AI Customer Experience Lab in London.
Sapiens International Corporation N.V., a provider of AI-centric, SaaS-based insurance software, has appointed Paul Wheeler, its current chief financial officer, as its new chief executive officer.
Mike Ettling, who previously served as executive chairman and interim CEO, will remain executive chairman and support Wheeler as CEO designate throughout the transition, according to Reinsurance News.
Wheeler and Ettling both joined Sapiens in December 2025 and have worked closely since then. The company described Wheeler as having a roughly 30-year career leading technology businesses, with prior roles including CFO positions at Operative and Trema.
Sapiens said the CEO appointment comes after multiple company milestones, including a significant minority investment from a wholly owned subsidiary of the Abu Dhabi Investment Authority, the launch of its Insurance Agentification programme, and the opening of an AI Customer Experience Lab at its new London headquarters in Holborn’s Space House. Wheeler said the firm is entering an AI-native period focused on powering the autonomous insurer of tomorrow, with the company planning to see customers at a Summit in October.
