The Andersons earnings jump as Renewables posts record output
The Andersons reported net income of $56.6 million, $1.65 per share, for the quarter ended June 30, compared with $7.9 million a year earlier.
The Andersons said its earnings rose sharply in the second quarter ended June 30, boosted by improved agribusiness results and strong performance at its renewables operations. The company reported net income attributable to The Andersons of $56.6 million, or $1.65 per share, up from $7.9 million, or 23¢ per share, in the same period a year ago.
Adjusted net income came in at $73.6 million, up from $8.4 million a year earlier, while adjusted EBITDA increased to $140.3 million from $65.2 million. The firm said Renewables delivered exceptional results, with its plants achieving record second-quarter production while completing planned spring maintenance.
The company attributed part of the renewables improvement to support from the first quarter finalization of Renewable Volume Obligations, which it said strengthened commodity markets and created merchandising opportunities. It also cited its low-carbon strategy, which contributed $24 million of 45Z tax credits in the quarter.
In agribusiness, The Andersons reported pretax income and adjusted pretax income attributable to the company of $20 million for the quarter, compared with $19 million and $17 million, respectively, in the second quarter of 2025. World Grain also reported that the fertilizer business led the improvement with higher margins on lower volumes, while merchandising results improved on higher commodity prices and increased early-quarter volatility, partially offset by fuel surcharges.
