Chubb shifts leadership in Westchester wholesale excess and surplus unit
The changes took effect immediately, with Dave Lupica moving to executive chairman and Dave Roberts stepping in as division president.
Chubb has announced leadership changes for Westchester, its North American wholesale excess and surplus (E&S) lines business. Dave Lupica, vice president at Chubb Group and division president for Westchester, has moved into the role of Executive Chairman, effective immediately, according to Reinsurance News.
The company appointed Dave Roberts, formerly Chief Operating Officer of Westchester, as vice president at Chubb Group and division president for Westchester, taking over responsibilities from Lupica. Reinsurance News said Roberts will handle day-to-day executive leadership of Chubb’s North American wholesale E&S lines, with an emphasis on delivering Westchester’s specialist products and services to wholesale brokers.
In his new role, Lupica will continue providing governance oversight and strategic guidance for Westchester’s wholesale E&S operations across North America, Reinsurance News reported. Chubb pointed to Lupica’s 26-year tenure, including work on establishing the Financial Lines practice, launching a Small Business division, overseeing digital transformation, and expanding Healthy Paws into a pet insurance provider.
Chubb also cited Lupica’s recognition in 2024, when he was inducted into the Insurance Business America Hall of Fame. Scott Meyer and Juan Luis Ortega, senior executives at Chubb, were quoted by Reinsurance News on the impact of Lupica’s leadership and approach to underwriting and decision making.
