Gallagher acquires Vancouver-based Apollo Insurance Solutions

The deal adds a digital broker focused on tenant and renters insurance, with plans to expand into small business coverage and specialized risks.

Arthur J. Gallagher has expanded its Canadian operations by acquiring Vancouver-based Apollo Insurance Solutions, a digital insurance broker and managing general agency focused on tenant insurance.

Following the acquisition, Apollo founder and CEO Jeff McCann and his team will stay in Vancouver and report to Dave Partington, head of Gallagher’s retail property and casualty brokerage operations in Canada, Latin America, and the Caribbean.

Apollo was founded in 2017 and employs about 64 people, and it has raised $11.4 million across three funding rounds with investors including Liberty Mutual, Trisura, and Definity.

Apollo’s distribution strategy has centered on renters insurance through embedded partnerships with landlords, property managers, and real estate technology providers, and it has also moved into small business insurance through a partnership with Gallagher, redirecting users to a Gallagher-branded insurance experience, according to Coverager.
