Ukraine demands faster Patriot deliveries after Russian strike kills 17
The strike used 24 ballistic missiles, four hypersonic missiles, and 115 drones, according to the Ukrainian Air Force.
Russian overnight drone and ballistic missile strikes killed at least 17 people in Kyiv and the surrounding region, as Ukraine warned that it faces critical shortages of air defense and urged allies to speed up deliveries of Patriot systems and other weapons.
According to Ukraine’s emergency service, the air raid alert in the region remained in effect, while rescue crews continued their work under heightened risk of further attacks.
The head of the Kyiv Regional State Administration, Tymur Tkachenko, said the highest casualties were recorded in the Brovary district, where nine people were killed, and four civilians were killed in the Bucha district.
Kyiv Mayor Vitali Klitschko reported at least 24 people injured and one person killed in the attack on the capital, while the Ukrainian Air Force said the barrage included 24 ballistic missiles, four hypersonic missiles, and 115 drones with the Kyiv region as the primary target.
