Arch Insurance International names Barrett Deputy Active Underwriter for Syndicate 2012

The appointment takes effect immediately and expands Barrett’s role to include Head of Specialty Casualty leadership across cyber and healthcare portfolios.

Arch Insurance International, part of Arch Capital Group, has appointed James Barrett as Deputy Active Underwriter for Lloyd’s Syndicate 2012, effective immediately, with responsibilities that include deputising for the Syndicate’s Active Underwriter on day-to-day leadership activities, according to Reinsurance News.

In the expanded role, Barrett also becomes Head of Specialty Casualty, while maintaining leadership of Arch’s cyber and healthcare portfolios and working closely with Maggie Munns, Head of Executive Assurance, to provide strategic oversight of the executive assurance portfolio.

Barrett is based in London and reports to Mike Lay, Chief Underwriting Officer for Long Tail Lines, with duties including strategic planning, performance management, and leading engagement with Lloyd’s.

Reinsurance News reports that Barrett joined Arch in 2018 and has more than two decades of underwriting experience, previously serving as Head of Cyber and Healthcare.
