Bitcoin holds above $64,000 as traders await Friday jobs data
Bitcoin was quoted at about $64,400, flat over the prior 24 hours, as U.S. nonfarm payrolls expectations hover around 80,000 new jobs for July.
CoinDesk said bitcoin was trading just above $64,000 in a very tight range, with the reference price around $64,400 and little change versus 24 hours earlier.
The outlet linked the market’s cautious tone to ahead-of-Friday U.S. labor data, noting that employment prints can influence expectations for Fed policy, which in turn can affect broader risk sentiment and crypto pricing.
CoinDesk also highlighted the most recent labor-market snapshot, saying initial jobless claims edged up by 1,000 to 199,000 for the week, versus economist expectations for 202,000. It added that the four-week average dipped to 198,750.
Finally, CoinDesk pointed to upcoming expectations for the July Nonfarm Payrolls report, describing forecasts for 80,000 jobs added and an unemployment rate that is expected to remain at 4.2%.
