Bitcoin holds near $65,000 as crypto focus shifts to regulation and select tokens
CoinDesk points to a Senate timeline for the CLARITY Act, with odds of 2026 passage cut sharply, while it highlights key BTC and ether resistance levels at $67,300 and $2,000.
Bitcoin was trading near $65,000, with its level little changed versus a week ago, even as parts of the crypto market posted notable gains, according to CoinDesk live updates. The outlet said MemeCore’s M rose 24% over seven days, Pump.fun’s PUMP gained 20%, and Cardano’s ADA advanced 15%. CoinDesk characterized those moves as selective strength, particularly concentrated in meme tokens, rather than evidence of a broad risk-on shift as the market works through a deep bear phase. The outlet added that optics are mixed when rallies are concentrated in that segment. On regulation, CoinDesk cited Joel Kruger, markets strategist at LMAX Group, saying markets have largely stopped waiting on the CLARITY Act ahead of the Senate’s break. Kruger said the bill is unlikely to clear before the August 7 recess, and that outcome is largely priced in. CoinDesk also reported that Polymarket cut odds of 2026 passage of the CLARITY Act to 28% from an 82% peak. The outlet said SEC Chair Paul Atkins has signaled guidance from the agency could provide clarity even if Congress runs out of time, and it highlighted $67,300 in bitcoin and $2,000 in ether as resistance levels to watch.
