Bitcoin Red Team says AI-assisted audit found 4,962 issues
In its first 29.8 hours, the volunteer group identified 720 high or critical issues across 390 Bitcoin-related projects.
Cointelegraph reports that Bitcoin security group Bitcoin Red Team, made up of 16 volunteers, says it has uncovered nearly 5,000 potential security issues during a rapid AI-assisted review of projects in the Bitcoin ecosystem.
The effort, which scans open-source Bitcoin-related repositories for vulnerabilities using AI tools plus human review, found 4,962 potential issues across 390 projects in the first 29.8 hours. Bitcoin Red Team said 720 of the findings are considered high- or critical-level, and 21.4% of its results have been reproduced so far.
The group said it is averaging about 1 critical exploit per hour per person, according to a post from Bitcoin developer Calle shared on X.
Cointelegraph notes the campaign comes days after a Coldcard hardware wallet hack that reportedly led to more than $100 million in Bitcoin being stolen.
