CBL and Greystar break ground on mixed-use project at Franklin mall
The development will add 361 residences plus about 15,000 square feet of retail and restaurants, with an expected two-year buildout.
CBL Properties and Greystar have broken ground on a mixed-use development at CoolSprings Galleria in Franklin, Tennessee, adding residential and new dining and retail to the existing mall campus, according to ConnectCRE.
The project is designed to bring 361 residences and approximately 15,000 square feet of new retail and restaurants. CBL previously sold a 5.35-acre parcel of underutilized parking to Greystar in June to make way for the development.
ConnectCRE said the project is expected to take two years to complete. The announcement also comes alongside retail activity at the site, including the recent opening of Tennessee’s first L.L.Bean store and the planned DICK’S House of Sports opening in 2028 at the JCPenney store location.
ConnectCRE added that CBL’s owned and managed portfolio includes 88 properties totaling 55.6 million square feet across 23 states, covering enclosed malls, outlet and lifestyle retail centers, and more than 25 open-air centers and other assets.
