Ford will introduce a new electric pickup truck, the company says, with a starting price of $28,000, according to CNBC Markets.

The new model, called Fathom, is described as the first vehicle built on Ford's Universal Electric Vehicle platform.

Ford has said that platform is important to making money with EVs, CNBC Markets reported.
