GEAPS launches on-demand QMS course for bulk grain handling

The course runs on-demand for 12 weeks after registration and is designed to help facilities turn existing operational data into decisions that improve quality and reduce risk.

Grain Elevator and Processing Society (GEAPS) has introduced a new on-demand course aimed at helping bulk materials facilities use Quality Management Systems, or QMS, to make better operational decisions, improve quality, reduce risk, and strengthen performance, according to World Grain.

The Quality Management Systems for Bulk Materials Handling Operations course is available through GEAPS' Online Learning. Participants have 12 weeks after registration to finish, with an estimated completion time of seven hours, and it is built around practical application rather than quality theory.

GEAPS said the program is designed for facility managers, location managers, quality professionals, supervisors, and administrative personnel involved in quality-related decision-making. The curriculum uses realistic scenarios, dashboards, reports, and decision-making activities, covering how an effective QMS is structured, how to evaluate procedures and documentation, and how to interpret quality reports and performance trends for grain handling, storage, and processing.

The course also includes introduction videos on topics such as bioterrorism preparedness, regulatory compliance, inventory management, operational priorities, and measuring the return on investment of a QMS. World Grain reports that by the end, participants should be better prepared to use operational data to anticipate risks, support traceability and compliance, drive continuous improvement, and meet or exceed customer expectations.
