Global Indemnity Q2 net income rises to $11.1 million

The specialty insurer reported a 53.8% loss ratio and a 94.7% combined ratio in Q2, and net income for the first half climbed to $15.3 million.

Global Indemnity Group posted second-quarter net income of $11.1 million, or $0.76 per share, for the three months ended June 30, 2026, up from $10.3 million, or $0.71 per share, in the same period a year earlier, the company said. For the six months ended June 30, 2026, net income rose to $15.3 million, or $1.05 per share, from $6.4 million, or $0.43 per share in 2025.

The specialty insurer reported current accident year underwriting income rose 3% to $5.8 million in Q2, with a loss ratio of 53.8% and a combined ratio of 94.7%. For the half, the year-over-year improvement reflected the absence of California wildfire losses that had weighed on the prior-year results, according to Insurance Business.

Net investment income for the first half totaled $28.6 million, and the company said it held $1.4 billion in total investments, mostly in fixed-income securities with a book yield of 4.42%. Common shareholders' equity increased to $706.9 million.

Premiums also showed mixed momentum, Insurance Business reported. Belmont Core gross written premiums increased 7% to $117.3 million in the second quarter and 3% to $213.7 million for the first half, while Wholesale Commercial premiums fell 2% to $131.6 million for the first half as the company maintained pricing and return standards amid competitive conditions and property rate reductions. Assumed Reinsurance climbed 43% to $32.7 million on new treaties, and Collectibles grew 13%, even as Wholesale Commercial contracted.
