UK foreign secretary avoids questions about past Trump remarks
The meeting with US Secretary of State Marco Rubio is set to cover Strait of Hormuz reopening efforts, the Ukraine war, and the situation in Gaza.
The UK’s new foreign secretary, Ed Miliband, faced reporters in Washington after being invited to the US capital by US Secretary of State Marco Rubio.
During talks at the US State Department, Miliband dodged shouted inquiries about whether he still backed his earlier criticism of Donald Trump as racist and misogynistic, instead saying he was looking forward to the meeting.
Rubio and Miliband were scheduled to discuss efforts to reopen the Strait of Hormuz, the Ukraine war, and the situation in Gaza, according to the report.
The dynamic is also expected to be watched closely because the White House was reportedly concerned about Prime Minister Andy Burnham’s decision to give Miliband the Foreign Office brief.
