Bitcoin holds above $64,600 as traders track SpaceX unlock

SpaceX stock worth about $101 billion becomes tradable Thursday, while bitcoin was still up 0.5% for the week.

Bitcoin was steady above $64,600 on Thursday after buyers defended an earlier dip, and attention centered more on the token than on the broader crypto market, according to CoinDesk.

Major cryptocurrencies were mixed, with ether up more than 1% to $1,904 but still down 0.7% over seven days. XRP fell almost 3% to $1.04, BNB slipped over 1% to $595, Solana declined to nearly $74, and dogecoin held around 7 cents.

Traders are also watching Elon Musk-owned SpaceX, where about $101 billion of shares become tradable on Thursday as the first lockup expires. CoinDesk said SpaceX holds 18,712 BTC, valued at roughly $1.1 billion at the end of June.

CoinDesk noted that global risk sentiment softened as a key equity index declined and chipmakers dropped, while gold rose 0.4% after traders trimmed rate hike expectations. The report also pointed to SoftBank’s results later Thursday, including its $34.6 billion investment into OpenAI through Vision Fund.
