Wordsmith raises $14 million in Series B extension led by Intact Private Capital

The deal brings Wordsmiths total funding to about $114 million and will fund expansion in North America plus growth in financial services and insurance.

Wordsmith AI, which provides AI software for in-house legal teams, has extended its Series B financing with a $14 million investment led by Intact Private Capital, along with participation from existing investors Highland Europe and Index Ventures. FT Ventures also joined as a new shareholder, according to the funding announcement covered by Coverager.

Founded in 2024 and headquartered in New York, the company builds tools aimed at automating routine legal work, reducing reliance on outside counsel, and helping enterprises move more legal functions in-house. Coverager reports the new capital will support expansion in North America and accelerate Wordsmith growth in the financial services and insurance sectors.

Wordsmith currently employs about 170 people, and Coverager cites LinkedIn showing headcount growing 185% year over year. After the Series B extension, the company has raised approximately $114 million in total funding to date.

Intact Private Capital said it invested because regulated industries such as insurance require enterprise-grade legal infrastructure with strong governance and auditability. Coverager also notes that Wordsmith is used by around 500 companies, including BT, Financial Times, Sage, Starling Bank, Canva, and Safelite.
