Zeus Wallet takes Lightning infrastructure offline after cyberattack

Founder Evan Kaloudis said affected Lightning Service Provider channels will be replaced, and Zeus found no evidence of a Lightning node software vulnerability.

Zeus Wallet, a self-custodial Bitcoin Lightning Network wallet, took its infrastructure offline after a cybersecurity incident on Wednesday while it audits its systems ahead of restoring services, according to Cointelegraph.

In a company blog post, Zeus founder Evan Kaloudis said the attack did not put customer funds at risk and that it had no evidence the incident affected Lightning node software, with mitigation occurring within hours.

Kaloudis added that customers whose Lightning Service Provider channels closed during the incident will receive replacement channels once services resume. Zeus did not disclose the nature of the attack or provide a timeline for restoration.

Cointelegraph also noted that Zeus’ action followed a Monday announcement that it would disable swaps after Boltz halted operations, and Boltz said its platform would remain disabled until further notice.
