ADNOC buys 11 supertankers for $1.3 billion to expand export fleet
The acquisition includes five VLGCs and six VLCCs, with nine vessels due for delivery this quarter and two more scheduled for late 2026.
ADNOC is expanding its shipping capacity with the purchase of 11 very large crude and gas carriers in a deal worth about $1.3 billion, aimed at boosting crude and LNG exports, according to OilPrice.
ADNOC Logistics & Services plc said it acquired five modern Very Large Gas Carriers, VLGCs, and six Very Large Crude Carriers, VLCCs. Nine of the vessels, six VLCCs and three VLGCs, were bought on the secondary market and are scheduled for delivery this quarter, entering service with ADNOC immediately afterward.
The remaining two VLGCs are newbuild ships acquired via a resale transaction from a Chinese shipyard, with delivery scheduled for the fourth quarter of 2026. ADNOC said the fleet expansion will support its gas and crude oil shipping capacity and strengthen the company’s integrated value chain across production, trading, and export volumes.
OilPrice also noted the purchase follows ADNOC’s earlier order for newbuild LNG carriers last month, as the UAE works to maintain oil export routes despite changes affecting the Strait of Hormuz.
