Amazon renews 300,000 SF office lease at 525 Market St in San Francisco
The renewal at 525 Market St includes an option to add 30,000 SF, as Amazon also seeks to expand office and robotics space in the city.
Amazon has renewed a multiyear office lease for 300,000 square feet at 525 Market St. in San Francisco’s Financial District, according to Bisnow and the San Francisco Chronicle.
The lease includes an option for an additional 30,000 square feet, the coverage said. Amazon also leases space at 660 Third St., while its lease at 188 Spear St. is set to expire in early 2027, which would leave more than half of the 12-story building owned by Shorenstein Properties vacant after Amazon’s departure.
Bisnow added that Amazon shuttered its AI lab in San Francisco in July, a move that followed the company’s broader reorganization. The AGI SF Lab employed about 80 people at its peak, the report said.
Amazon is also building out a robotics team in San Francisco and is expected to lease an additional 250,000 square feet at 650 Townsend St. in Showplace Square, with the company still trying to fill 26 open positions for its San Francisco robotics division, Bisnow reported. In addition, Amazon plans a new 710,000 square foot parcel delivery facility at 900 Seventh St., a site it bought in 2020 for $202 million.
