Bitcoin holds near $65,000 as US jobs data nears

Nonfarm payrolls are forecast to rise by 80,000 in July, and markets price a 55% chance of a September Fed rate hike that would lift the target range to 3.75%-4.00%.

Bitcoin was edging higher near $65,000 ahead of the U.S. jobs report, which CoinDesk said is the next major catalyst for crypto sentiment. CoinDesk cited expectations that nonfarm payrolls increase by 80,000 in July, following 57,000 in June, with unemployment forecast at 4.2%. The update also noted that markets currently assign a 55% probability to a September Fed rate hike, which would raise the target range to 3.75%-4.00% if it happens.

The live crypto updates also highlighted activity tied to potential selling pressure, with CoinDesk pointing to bitcoin miners transferring $37 million in BTC to NYDIG. It said miners’ transfers to exchanges can signal preparations to sell, although NYDIG also offers custody and financing, so the coins may stay in custody or be used differently.

CoinDesk further reported MetaMask has launched an AI powered Agent Wallet that can monitor markets and execute crypto trades, swaps, and other on chain transactions. The wallet lets users configure spending limits and permitted protocols, offers a Guard Mode versus a more permissive Beast Mode, and includes transaction simulations and threat checks before an agent completes a trade.
