Brepafin to acquire Vimercati Group in a two-stage deal

The transaction is expected to close in the early months of next year, with the combined unit projected to top €220m in revenue.

Brepafin, the holding company behind Italian automotive supplier Sila Group, has outlined a two-stage plan to take over automotive component maker Vimercati Group, according to Il Sole 24 Ore as cited by Yahoo Finance. The process is set to start with a lease arrangement, then move to a full merger once the first phase is completed.

The combined business is expected to generate revenues exceeding €220m, employing about 400 people in Italy and more than 2,100 worldwide after the transaction. Vimercati, founded in 1947, designs and produces switches and switch assemblies mainly for the automotive industry.

After the deal closes, Vimercati will operate under a new name, NextHMI. The companies also described the move as part of broader consolidation among Italian automotive component manufacturers amid difficult market conditions.

Brepafin said the financial details of the transaction were not disclosed, and the acquisition is anticipated to close in the early months of next year. Edoardo Pavesio, chairman of Sila Group, said the consolidation path can help strengthen competitiveness in automotive components markets.
