Commerzbank lifts gas and German power price forecasts on LNG squeeze

Commerzbank now sees year-end gas at EUR 50 per MWh and German power at EUR 110 per MWh, with only partial easing by end-2027.

Commerzbank analyst Norman Liebke has revised up forecasts for natural gas and German power prices, citing tighter European storage, greater reliance on LNG, and structural constraints limiting Qatari gas exports, FXStreet reports.

The bank also flagged additional upside risk from the planned phase-out of Russian gas from 2027, a shift it says could keep supply tight.

For the outlook, Commerzbank now expects year-end gas prices around EUR 50 per MWh and German power prices near EUR 110 per MWh, with only partial easing expected by the end of 2027, according to the FXStreet summary of its note.
