Designer sues Prada seeking at least US$5 million over Rolls-Royce deal
The High Court lawsuit says Prada unilaterally abandoned a plan to redesign Rolls-Royce cars for exhibitions and events worldwide.
A Hong Kong-based Belgian designer has filed a High Court lawsuit against Prada, seeking at least US$5 million in damages over an alleged breach of a partnership agreement related to a Rolls-Royce redesign initiative, according to the South China Morning Post.
The designer, Jonathan Riss, also known as Jonathan Thierry Colin, accuses the Italian fashion house of violating written and verbal agreements to jointly develop a marketing initiative that he says Hong Kong-listed Prada abandoned for “accountability reasons.”
Prada chairman Patrizio Bertelli, his wife Miuccia Prada, and their son Lorenzo Bertelli, who serves as an executive director, were named as defendants in the writ, the SCMP reported.
SCMP also said the second plaintiff is Ahrsenal Limited, the automotive arm of Jay Ahr, and that Riss was initially engaged in February 2024 by Patrizio Bertelli to transform Prada’s Galleria and Nylon bags before the parties agreed to pursue a neo-prototype concept incorporating elements from Prada and Jay Ahr.
