Mutual of Omaha and Claritev automate supplemental health claims filings

The integration uses medical claims data to flag eligibility for accident, critical illness, and hospital indemnity benefits, addressing low voluntary benefits use at renewal.

Mutual of Omaha Workplace Solutions is partnering with Claritev to integrate their platforms and automate the supplemental health benefits claims process, aiming to reduce friction for employees after medical events.

Claritev will use medical claims data to identify policyholders who may be eligible to file claims under accident, critical illness, or hospital indemnity coverage, then notify employees to take action.

The service is designed to cover the full cycle, from spotting potential supplemental claims to helping employees file and receive payment. The companies say it targets a documented gap in voluntary benefits adoption, where fewer than one in three employees fully uses supplemental benefits and 13% are unaware they have coverage.

Insurance Business reports that the partnership also looks to support utilization, which can matter during broker renewals for voluntary benefits. Claritev said it serves more than 750 healthcare payers, more than 100,000 employers, and 60 million consumers, and has more than 45 years of claims processing experience.
