Nvidia boosts stake in Nebius, holding 9.3% after follow-on buying

Nvidia now owns 22.2 million Nebius shares, while Nebius is set to report Q2 earnings on August 12.

Nvidia has increased its investment in AI cloud company Nebius, according to a recent filing cited by Yahoo Finance. The chipmaker now holds 22.2 million Nebius shares, a 9.3% stake.

Yahoo Finance reports that Nvidia first became a shareholder in late 2024 through Nebius' $700 million private placement, then steadily raised its stake after that initial investment.

Nebius shares have surged, with Yahoo Finance noting the stock is up 147.6% year to date. The article links Nvidia's backing to Nebius' role as a partner in the AI infrastructure ecosystem.

Operationally, Yahoo Finance highlights that Nebius is renting Nvidia-powered computing capacity and offering software platforms for training, deploying, and running large AI models. In Q1, group revenue rose 684% year over year to $399 million, core AI cloud revenue increased 841% to $390 million, and Nebius ended the quarter with an annualized revenue run rate of $1.9 billion, up 50% in one quarter, while still reporting an adjusted net loss in the period.

The article also says Nebius is not yet profitable and is expanding its infrastructure footprint to meet customer demand, with Q2 earnings scheduled for August 12.
