Ukraine warns air-defense supplies are falling as Russia steps up strikes
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said Ukraine has received only about one third as many air-defense interceptors in 2026 so far as in the same period of 2025.
Ukraine is warning that its air-defense coverage is weakening as Russia escalates ballistic missile strikes, with concerns growing that dwindling interceptor supplies leave Kyiv and other regions more vulnerable.
According to OilPrice, Zelenskyy said Ukraine received only a third as many air-defense interceptors during the first part of this year compared with the same period in 2025, after meeting with military leadership on protecting critical infrastructure on August 2.
Zelenskyy also said partner countries have the required anti-ballistic interceptor missiles, but that deliveries have declined, adding that Ukraine needs political decisions to speed up deliveries and accelerate production, including localization in Ukraine.
In addition, Latvian Foreign Minister Baiba Braze criticized Russia’s latest attack during August 5, describing it as a late night strike that left the skies lit by explosions and saying she was sheltering during the assault.
