Hong Kong commerce chief to lead delegation to Malaysia next week
The visit is aimed at both helping mainland and Hong Kong firms expand abroad and attracting third party businesses to Hong Kong through new bilateral deals.
Hong Kong’s commerce chief, Algernon Yau Ying-wah, is set to lead a delegation of mainland Chinese and local firms to Malaysia next week, according to SCMP Economy.
Yau said the trip will include exploring business opportunities and signing agreements meant to confirm bilateral investments, framing it as a two way effort to support overseas expansion and to draw additional companies to Hong Kong.
He noted that about 200 enterprises from mainland China have set up offices in Hong Kong since last year, describing the city as a platform firms use to go global.
SCMP Economy also reports that Hong Kong is looking toward emerging markets in Africa after exploring the Middle East and Central Asia amid geopolitical tensions.
