Chessington closes after local water outage disrupts theme park operations
Chessington said tickets for Monday, 10 August would be returned or reused on a future date.
Chessington World of Adventures in south-west London closed for the day after the resort described a local water outage. The theme park and zoo said the shutdown followed the disruption to water supply in the area.
The park said tickets booked for Monday, 10 August would be returned, or could be reused on a future date. The closure arrives during the middle of the school summer holidays, typically one of the busiest periods for UK theme parks.
The outlet also noted the park previously shut for a day in July 2018 after a burst water main left homes and businesses nearby without supply or with low water pressure, setting up a repeat of a similar infrastructure problem.
BBC Business reported that Merlin Entertainment, the operator referenced in the story, cited the local outage as the reason for the latest one-day closure.
