EUR/USD stalls near 100-day SMA as talks jitters weigh on the euro

The pair is trading with a short-term upside bias after reclaiming the 50-day SMA, but the 100-day level near 1.1568 is the key resistance to watch.

EUR/USD was down about 0.1% on Monday against the US dollar as uncertainty tied to US-Iran developments pointed to a delay in talks, according to FXStreet. In the newsletter’s technical read, the euro stalled near the 100-day simple moving average around 1.1568.

The outlook remains slightly tilted to the upside because buyers had reclaimed the 50-day SMA, and momentum indicators such as the RSI supported the short-term bias, FXStreet said. The first resistance area is the 100-day SMA, and a breach would open the way toward 1.1600, then the 200-day SMA near 1.1629.

FXStreet also flagged a further upside target at the 1.1700 psychological level if those moving averages are cleared. On the downside, a drop below 1.1500 could trigger a pullback toward the 50-day SMA near 1.1469, with additional focus then shifting to 1.1400 and the July 28 swing low at 1.1353.

The report also described weekly performance context, noting EUR’s strength versus the New Zealand dollar among listed major currencies for the week, alongside a heat map tracking moves across other major pairs.
