Kalshi partners with Nasdaq to expand trade surveillance
Kalshi will implement Nasdaq’s surveillance platform in phases and use the data to support real-time detection of abuses, including insider trading, while preparing filings in the format required by the CFTC.
Kalshi has partnered with Nasdaq to adopt the US exchange heavyweight’s market surveillance tool as it seeks to strengthen oversight of trading activity on its prediction market platform, Reuters reported.
The multi-year deal will be rolled out in phases, combining Kalshi’s existing surveillance framework with added monitoring capabilities for prediction markets and perpetual-style derivatives, with an emphasis on detecting market abuse, manipulation, and insider trading in real time.
Kalshi said the integration will also help it deliver trade data to the Commodity Futures Trading Commission in the format the agency requires, according to Reuters.
The partnership comes amid increased scrutiny of prediction markets after alleged insider trading cases, including a CFTC fine of $35,000 last month against former Representative George Santos over alleged manipulative Kalshi trading, and an ongoing investigation involving a White House teleprompter operator, Reuters added.
