Kingstone posts record $15.5m net income in Q2 2026

Net premiums earned rose 30.8% to $60.4 million, while the net combined ratio fell to 70.2% as underwriting expense leverage improved.

Kingstone reported second-quarter 2026 results, posting net income of $15.5 million, its most profitable quarter in company history, according to President and CEO Meryl Golden.

The insurer said net premiums earned increased 30.8% to $60.4 million, driven by reduced quota share premiums and an 18.7% rise in direct premiums written to $72.4 million, with strength in New York personal lines.

Kingstone reported improvement across profitability metrics, with the net combined ratio at 70.2%, an annualized return on equity of 50.8%, and a net loss ratio of 39.6% that included favourable prior-year reserve development and a negative catastrophe loss ratio of 0.8%.

It also cited higher investment returns, with net investment income up 49% on higher yields and a growing investment portfolio, and said it completed a catastrophe reinsurance placement expanding total coverage to $500 million. The quarter included a share repurchase authorization and a 20% dividend increase to $0.06 per share, one year after the dividend was reinstated.
