PwC to lease about 350,000 sq ft at Canary Wharf redevelopment
The One Eden space is currently occupied by Citigroup’s EMEA headquarters and will be redeveloped ahead of PwC’s move as the firm refurbishes its Embankment Place offices in 2030.
Accounting firm PwC has agreed to lease about 350,000 square feet at One Eden, a redevelopment of the office property currently known as 33 Canada Square within CWG’s Canary Wharf mixed-use complex in London, according to ConnectCRE.
ConnectCRE said the building is presently occupied by Citigroup’s EMEA headquarters, and that the redevelopment will be completed in advance of PwC’s arrival. PwC is also using the new lease to support near-term space needs while it begins a refurbishment of its Embankment Place offices in 2030 and plans for the expiration of its More London lease in 2035.
The leasing announcement followed an extensive review of potential London sites, PwC said, and framed the move as expanding its London footprint and improving workplace facilities and flexibility. PwC UK senior partner Marco Amitrano said One Eden will provide an environment for people and clients while offering the quality, sustainability, and flexibility the firm is seeking.
ConnectCRE noted the announcement comes after Barclays made a 999-year commitment to its Canary Wharf tower, for which it acquired the leasehold for £750 million, roughly US$1 billion. It added that JP Morgan plans to build a new tower at the complex for its largest office location outside the United States.
