Starwind Specialty launches underwriting platform for private clients
The first product is a standalone owner-named Builders Risk policy for bespoke home construction and renovation projects with completed values up to $30 million.
Starwind Specialty, a North American programme management company, has introduced Starwind Private Client, a dedicated underwriting platform aimed at the insurance needs of high-net-worth individuals and families working on complex residential property projects, including builds and renovations that conventional markets may not cover.
The company said its first offering, Private Client Construction, is a standalone owner-named Builders Risk policy for bespoke home construction and renovation, with completed values of up to $30 million. The coverage is positioned as all-risk protection for buildings under construction, existing structures, and construction materials, along with optional coverages.
Starwind Specialty added that the product is supported by insurance paper rated A or higher by A.M. Best at the point of binding. It is underpinned by flexible underwriting, technology-driven pricing, catastrophe exposure management, and loss prevention support.
In comments to Reinsurance News, Starwind co-president Alex Bonds said the new platform expands Starwind’s underwriting capabilities and targets underserved segments, while Program President Bryan Luker said the approach is designed for custom home projects that involve more complexity and uncertainty, including properties in catastrophe-prone areas and other projects requiring individual assessment.
