Swiss Re names new leadership for Life & Health reinsurance units
The appointments take effect in October and November 2026, with Damien Bartlett succeeding Tamas Bown in the Life & Health market unit role.
Global reinsurer Swiss Re has announced leadership changes in its Life and Health reinsurance organization, including new roles focused on market leadership and underwriting oversight.
The company said Damien Bartlett will be appointed Head of Market Unit Life & Health for the UK and Ireland, and for the Middle East and Africa. The role takes effect 1 November 2026, when he will succeed Tamas Bown, who has moved to become Swiss Re’s Head of Market Unit Asia Pacific ex China.
Swiss Re also named Karen Tan as Chief Underwriting Officer for Life and Health reinsurance. The appointment begins 1 October 2026, with Tan initially remaining based in Singapore before relocating to Zurich.
Both leaders bring long tenures in reinsurance and related risk and actuarial roles, according to the company. Swiss Re said Bartlett previously spent 25 years at SCOR in senior positions, while Tan has worked at Swiss Re for more than 12 years, including as Chief Risk Officer for L&H Re.
