Uber launches premium Uber Elite service in Hong Kong with Kwoon Chung Bus

Uber Elite will use up to six passenger Mercedes-Benz rides with airport meet-and-greet services, and involves 15 to 30 full-time drivers from Kwoon Chung Bus’s limousine department.

Uber has partnered with Hong Kong transport operator Kwoon Chung Bus to launch its first premium ride service outside the United States, called Uber Elite, the companies announced Monday, according to SCMP Economy.

The premium offering includes pre-booked rides in Mercedes-Benz vehicles that can carry up to six passengers, with uniformed chauffeurs and airport meet-and-greet services, alongside other features.

Local lawmakers said the move is unrelated to Uber’s separate push for a larger licence quota under a coming regulatory regime, SCMP Economy reported.

Kwoon Chung Bus said it will staff the initiative with 15 to 30 full-time drivers from its limousine department, and that drivers must complete six hours of training and an assessment before serving premium patrons.
