Vodafone Idea narrows Q1 loss as revenue rises
The telecom said ARPU climbed to ₹195, and 4G/5G subscribers rose to 130.1 million, while data usage jumped 27.9% year over year.
Vodafone Idea reported a smaller net loss for the June-ending quarter, posting a loss of ₹3,754 crore, down from a loss of ₹6,608 crore in the year-ago period, according to LiveMint Markets. On a sequential basis, the company’s Q4FY26 profit of ₹51,970 crore was attributed to a one-time exceptional gain tied to the government’s relief on AGR dues.
For the quarter, consolidated revenue from operations rose to ₹11,689 crore, up 2.4% from ₹11,023 crore in the June 2025 quarter. The company also reported EBITDA of ₹5,034 crore, with margins improving to 43.1% from 41.8% a year earlier, after excluding the prior quarter’s one-time gain.
Average revenue per user increased to ₹195, up 10.2% year over year, with Vodafone Idea saying the rise reflected higher ARPU as it added 4G users. The outlet also noted that Vodafone Idea continues to lag peers on ARPU, with Airtel at ₹264 and Reliance Jio at ₹215.
Vodafone Idea said it recorded a net addition to its subscriber base for the first time since the merger, with total subscribers reaching 193.1 million versus 192.8 million in Q4FY26. The company ended the quarter with 130.1 million 4G/5G subscribers, up from 127.4 million a year earlier, and data usage increased to 88.4 petabytes per day from 69.1 petabytes per day, a 27.9% year-over-year gain, as it expanded 5G coverage to over 200 cities across 17 key circles.
