Baker Hughes wins contract for Kutei Northern Hub subsea systems
The deal includes 17 deepwater horizontal tree systems plus asset protection and condition monitoring technology aimed at reducing unplanned downtime.
Baker Hughes has secured a contract to supply subsea production systems and digital solutions for the Kutei Northern Hub development in Indonesian waters, according to Yahoo Finance. The order comes from Searah North Ganal, a subsidiary of Searah, a joint venture between Eni and PETRONAS.
Under the contract, Baker Hughes will deliver 17 deepwater horizontal tree systems along with associated manifolds, connections, control and distribution systems. The company will also provide its Cordant asset protection and condition monitoring systems.
Baker Hughes said the equipment and digital offerings are intended to help identify and mitigate equipment risks and reduce the likelihood of unplanned downtime. The subsea systems are designed to support operations focused on boosting natural gas production, contributing to Indonesia's liquefied natural gas capacity and domestic energy supply.
For manufacturing and support, Baker Hughes plans to use its Indonesia resources, producing the subsea trees at its Global Manufacturing Center for Subsea Trees in Batam. The company also expects additional operational and service support from its Balikpapan facility, and it noted the contract follows an earlier 2025 order to supply flash gas compressors for an FPSO vessel at the same development.
