BSE replaces Wipro in Nifty 50 as India index reshuffle takes effect

The changes start after the close on 29 September 2026 and roll into Nifty 50, Nifty Next 50, Nifty 100, and Nifty 500 rebalances.

NSE Indices announced a broad reshuffle of its Nifty equity benchmarks, with changes to the Nifty 50, Nifty 100, Nifty Next 50, and Nifty 500 set to take effect from 30 September 2026, after the close of trading on 29 September 2026, according to LiveMint Markets.

The most notable move is in the Nifty 50, where BSE Ltd will replace Wipro Ltd, making BSE a new constituent of India’s benchmark equity index from the effective date. Wipro’s exclusion from the Nifty 50 cascades into the Nifty Next 50 because those constituents are selected from the reconstituted Nifty 100, LiveMint Markets reported.

Under the Nifty 100 update, five stocks will exit and five will be added. Indian Hotels, Lodha Developers, REC, Shree Cement, and United Spirits will be removed, replaced by BSE, Hitachi Energy India, Polycab India, Vedanta Aluminium Metal, and Vodafone Idea.

The Nifty 500 reshuffle is wider, with 27 stocks excluded and 27 new ones added. LiveMint Markets listed examples of companies exiting including 3M India, Go Digit General Insurance, Newgen Software Technologies, Niva Bupa Health Insurance, and Pfizer, while new entrants include Azad Engineering, Bagmane Prime Office REIT, Brookfield India Real Estate Trust, Clean Max Enviro Energy Solutions, Fractal Analytics, and TD Power Systems.
