Epique Realty CEO says agent tech adoption beats more tools
He argued brokerages should target adoption drivers like tools agents already want, already pay for, or have clear incentives to use.
At the HousingWire AI Summit, Epique Realty CEO Josh Miller said brokerages often spend thousands of dollars on technology that agents do not use, making AI-related investments a frequent waste of money. He argued the fix is not building more tools, but aligning what brokerages offer with what agents are willing and motivated to adopt.
Miller said Epique’s adoption-focused approach centers on three drivers, agents already want the tool, agents already pay for it, or agents have a clear incentive to use it. He said brokerages should prioritize agent adoption over simply adding technology, especially as AI investment accelerates across real estate.
He also described how Epique grew after becoming disillusioned with the traditional brokerage model, saying the company wanted a better fit for agents. Miller noted Epique co-founded in December 2021, later expanded quickly to become No. 16 among brands on the RealTrends Verified rankings for transaction sides in 2025.
HousingWire reports Epique recorded $7 billion in sales volume across 23,000 sides last year and now houses roughly 5,000 agents across all 50 states and three countries. Miller added that the company debuted at No. 7 on the 2026 Inc. 5000 list, calling its growth organic and stating it has not bought other brokerages.
