Flowdesk wins full Dubai broker-dealer license under VARA

The approval was granted to Flowdesk’s local entity, Flowdesk Omega FZE, expanding regulated broker-dealer services for qualified and institutional investors in and from Dubai.

Flowdesk, an institutional crypto market maker backed by Coinbase Ventures and BlackRock, has received a full broker-dealer license in Dubai, expanding its regulated services for institutional investors in the emirate, according to Cointelegraph.

On Tuesday, the firm said Dubai’s Virtual Assets Regulatory Authority granted the license to its local entity, Flowdesk Omega FZE, enabling it to provide broker-dealer services to qualified and institutional investors in and from Dubai.

Cointelegraph reports the Dubai approval follows Flowdesk’s broader regulatory push, including authorization in France as a Crypto-Asset Service Provider under the European Union’s Markets in Crypto-Assets framework.

The outlet also notes that broker-dealers are increasingly seen as a bridge between traditional finance and crypto markets, and it pointed to recent moves by other firms in the US, as well as BitGo and OTC Markets plans to support digital asset trading and custody infrastructure for broker-dealers using OTS Link ATS.
