AI agents are poised to reshape home search and mortgage workflows

Industry leaders at HousingWire’s AI Summit said AI is expected to handle tasks from home discovery through financing, with at least one HouseCanary pilot tying listings into Google Search.

Executives speaking at HousingWire’s AI Summit said AI agents are expected to take over home search, agent selection, and mortgage workflow tasks, ultimately playing a central role in how consumers discover properties and move through buying. Dan Snyder, CEO of Lower, and Chris Rediger, CEO of HouseCanary, described how AI could shift housing work away from more manual roles while boosting the output of top performers, HousingWire reports.

Snyder said consumers will eventually turn to AI agents to find homes based on goals and preferences. He added that Lower is building an end-to-end homebuying platform through acquisitions, including real estate portal Movoto and mortgage technology company Neat Labs, with the aim of connecting the customer journey from search through financing and closing. Snyder also said AI is helping companies develop and deploy technology faster and reducing dependence on third-party software.

Rediger said HouseCanary expects AI to let consumers identify agents using more detailed signals, such as an agent’s transaction history and negotiating performance. He pointed to a national partnership with Google that is displaying home listings within Google Search, and said more than 10,000 agents are on a waitlist to have their listings and profiles included. Rediger also clarified the Google experience is intended as a top-of-funnel search tool rather than a replacement for traditional real estate portals.
