Hong Kong power cuts disrupt homes and workplaces during heatwave
About 2,400 households in Yuen Long lost power after an underground cable fault, with electricity gradually returning after 10:45am.
Power and air-conditioning outages in parts of Hong Kong disrupted daily life during an extreme heatwave, with outages reported at a housing estate, an office building, and even a funeral home, according to SCMP Economy.
In Yuen Long, about 2,400 households in Shui Pin Wai Estate and the surrounding area were left without power after an underground cable developed a fault at around 4am on Tuesday, the outlet reported.
SCMP Economy said CLP Power, which supplies power to Kowloon and the New Territories, apologized to affected residents and said it would investigate the outage. It added that electricity supply to the area gradually resumed after 10:45am.
