Indian QIP fundraising hits one-year high in July
Eight companies raised ₹ 25,113.97 crore via QIPs in July, lifting activity nearly 48% from June.
Indian companies increased equity fundraising in July, pushing qualified institutional placement activity to a one-year high, as supportive valuations and ample investor liquidity encouraged issuers to tap markets, according to LiveMint Markets. Prime Database data cited by LiveMint Markets shows eight firms raised ₹ 25,113.97 crore through QIPs in July, the highest monthly tally since July 2025, when five companies mobilized ₹ 26,560.02 crore.
The article says QIP fundraising jumped nearly 48% from ₹ 16,989.93 crore raised through 10 issues in June. It also notes that the rise reflects a favorable fundraising window rather than a bet on an immediate economic recovery. QIPs let listed companies raise equity directly from qualified institutional buyers without running a public offering. The placements are often used to fund expansion and acquisitions, repay debt, or strengthen balance sheets, LiveMint Markets reported.
LiveMint Markets also highlights the turnaround earlier in 2026, with QIP amounts of ₹ 4,150 crore in January falling to ₹ 137 crore in February and ₹ 75 crore in March before recovering to ₹ 2,500 crore in April. June and July together accounted for ₹ 42,103.90 crore, nearly 79% of QIPs in the first seven months of 2026, and July alone contributed about 47%.
