John Kellington named CEO of ACORD standards-setting body
Kellington most recently served as executive vice president and chief information officer at Cincinnati Insurance for more than 16 years.
John Kellington has been appointed chief executive officer of ACORD, the standards-setting body for the insurance industry, after serving in senior technology roles at Cincinnati Insurance for more than 16 years, including executive vice president and chief information officer.
ACORD says Kellington is familiar with its work, having previously served as senior vice president of standards development, information technology, corporate finance, and membership from 2007 to 2010, and later as a member of its board.
While at Cincinnati Insurance, Kellington helped use the ACORD architecture-led IT model to shape the insurer’s technology operations. ACORD also credits him with being instrumental in developing the ACORD Reference Architecture, which the organization says has improved the industry’s technical capabilities by defining models for capabilities, processes, information, and components.
ACORD Board Chair Robert Kelly AM, founder, managing director, and CEO of Steadfast Group, said Kellington brings experience implementing data standards and will advance ACORD’s mission to help create a more digitally connected and efficient insurance industry. ACORD members include hundreds of major insurers, reinsurers, brokers, agencies, technology providers, and industry associations across multiple lines of business.
