Medtronic upgrade points to turnaround progress after strong 2026 results

UBS lifted Medtronic to Buy from Neutral, citing FY26 revenue of $36.4 billion and a 78% jump in cardiac ablation solutions revenue globally.

UBS upgraded Medtronic to a Buy from Neutral, arguing that a turnaround is underway as investors weigh whether the company is returning to sustainable growth after years of underperformance, according to a Yahoo Finance write-up.

The research highlights Medtronic’s fiscal Q4 and full-year 2026 results, with Q4 revenue reaching $9.8 billion, up 9.9% as reported and 6.6% organically. For FY26, Medtronic reported revenue of $36.4 billion, with adjusted revenue of $36.3 billion, up 8.4% as reported and 5.8% organically.

The piece also points to cardiac as a key growth engine, saying Cardiac Ablation Solutions revenue rose 78% globally, including 124% growth in the U.S. It further notes that newer launches and investment in innovation and M&A are intended to support momentum in high-growth opportunities, including platforms such as Symplicity Spyral for hypertension, which is annualizing at $100 million.

While it cautions that earnings are not a cure-all, the write-up says the broader MedTech sector may be stabilizing, citing BTIG’s view that sentiment could improve as market breadth expands and momentum unwinds away from semiconductors and AI, provided execution remains strong.
